In Meet The Team

This week, meet Michelle, our Wedding Coordinator…

I wake up when…

Our 17 month old wakes, usually 6.30am. No need for an alarm clock anymore!

I’m responsible for…

Organising weddings with couples in the Guildhall. These can range from 30 people to 300. The most popular spaces are the King Charles Hall which is a grand space for up to 100, the Walton Suite which has a lovely views over St Giles Hill for up to 80 people and the Bapsy Hall which can hold up to 300 and then more for the evening reception.

I got the job…

After being Duty Manager within the Guildhall for 2 years and discovering a passion for wedding planning. I got married in 2008 and enjoyed organising mine so much. This way I can combine my knowledge for the building and organisational skills which I love!

My typical day…

Always begins with emails and replying to enquires. We’ve just launched our new wedding brochure and packages. If we have a wedding on, then my day would be dedicated to the smooth running of it, meeting and greeting the couple and ensuring all caterers were briefed and the room was set up as the couple requested. Basically making sure the couple has everything they need.

The most memorable moment at work…

I am waiting for the day Peter Andre gigs at the Guildhall!

The best part of my job…

Is seeing the couples for the first time at the beginning of the day and seeing the rooms transformed. They can look magical.

After work…

I collect my son from nursery and once he’s asleep watch Corrie and have dinner with my husband (with prosecco or a Gin on a Friday!)

If I didn’t work here I’d…

still work in the wedding/events industry or work with animals.
